Funeral services were held on Saturday morning, July 9, 1988, at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, for Mrs. Martha M. Heimer, 86, of Stacyville. The Rev. John Smith of Cresco officiated and burial was in Visitation cemetery, Stacyville.
Mrs. Heimer died on Wednesday, July 6, 1988 at Osage Memorial Hospital, Osage, Iowa, of natural causes.
She was born on July 13, 1901, to Joseph and Josephine (Mueller) Mayer, Sr., of Stacyville. She was educated in Stacyville schools.
On Sept. 28, 1921, she married Arthur J. Heimer, and they farmed in the Stacyville area until his death in 1969. She remained on the family farm until 1971 when she moved to her son, Leon's home in Stacyville.
Mrs. Heimer was a member of Visitation Christian Mothers, and a charter member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 569 of Stacyville.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sons; six brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Gregor (Irene) Thome of Stacyville; two sons, Wilmer "Buddy" of St. Ansgar; and Leon "Charlie" of Stacyville; one sister, Leona Mayer of Stacyville; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
