William Virgil Buck

RICEVILLE, IOWA - William V. Buck, 86, of Riceville, died Saturday (Sept. 2, 1995) at Maple Manor Nursing Home, Osage.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church, Riceville, with Father Mosher officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will begin 2:30 p.m. today at Conway Funeral Home, Riceville, with a 7 p.m. Scripture service.

William Virgil Buck was born on October 29, 1908 in Fort Dodge to William Buck and Lillian Buck (nee) Rafferty. He was a World War II veteran.

He was united in marriage to Mary Catherine Jarosh on Sept. 12, 1933, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mason City.

He was an electrician for many years. He then moved to a farm near Riceville where he farmed until his retirement in 1973, moving into Riceville. His hobbies were wintering in Missouri and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of Osage; one son, William C. Buck of Osage; one daughter, Rosemary Veech and her husband, David of Mason City; one grandson, David E. Veech and his wife, Gidget of Manly; one granddaughter, Michele Olson and her husband, Troy of Peterson, Iowa; two great-grandchildren, Joshua David Veech and Hunter Mychael Veech of Manly; one brother, Raymond and his wife, Mary of Portland, Iowa; one sister, Daisy Brown and her husband, Clifford, of Highland, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clyde; four sisters, Grace Patterson, Eva Wherman, Ruth Smith and Margaret Meehan; one grandson, Michael Veech and one granddaughter, Katherine Ann Veech.
