June A. Metz, age 78, of Osage, Iowa, died on Sunday, April 26, 2009, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

OSAGE - June A. Metz, 78, of Osage, died Sunday (April 26, 2009) at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
June was born on June 26, 1930, in Osage, the daughter of Dale and Hazel (Moody) Clyde. She married John P. Metz on August 27, 1949, in Arkansas.
June worked as an area news correspondent for more than 25 years, and was the host of "Osage Open House" on KGLO Radio.
She was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church in Osage, where she sang in the choir and served on numerous committees. She was also a member of the Osage V.F.W. Auxiliary. June served as director of the Osage Chamber of Commerce. She was active in many volunteer activities and had a great love for the city of Osage.
Her body was donated to the Mayo Clinic for scientific purposes.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church in Osage, with The Rev. Anna Blaedel, officiating. There will be a time for lunch and fellowship following services at the church.
June is survived by a daughter, Tamara Washington (Joe), of Lakeville, Minn.; four sons, John P. Metz III (Joanne), of Crescent, Captain Michael Metz, of Houma, La., Shane Metz (Mary) of Dike, and Logan Metz of Mason City; 11 grandchildren, Nikole Gast (Eric) of Osage, Michelle Smith (Jon) of Osage, Michael Metz Jr. of Westville, Ind., Tara Kane (Nick) of Cedar Falls, Shane Metz, II (Trista) of Reinbeck, Jaime Roush (Bret) of Omaha, Neb., John P. Metz IV (Elizabeth) of Crescent, Carissa Hemmer (Bryan) of Farmington, Minn., Jennifer Musta of Bloomington, Minn., Alexandria Washington of Minneapolis, Minn., Willie Washington, of Lakeville, Minn.; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Clyde, of Marietta, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Metz in 2005; a daughter-in-law, Janie Metz; an infant great-grandson, Ethan Hemmer; and an infant brother, Ralph Clyde.
