Thorvald V. Hansen Funeral Held September 2, [1976]

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Funeral services for Thorvald V. Hansen, 79, who died at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, Osage, Iowa, on August 30, 1976, were held on September 2 at First Lutheran Church here with the Rev. Stephen Engelstad officiating.

Thorvald Viggo Hansen was born on June 17, 1897 on a farm near Soro, Denmark. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith as a youth.

Mr. Hansen came to the United States in 1914, and became a citizen of this country in 1920. On May 26, 1934 he married Alvera Nelson of Mona. Three children were born to them.

Mr. Hansen retired in 1972 where his son, Larry, now lives, after having lived on that farm for 50 years.

He made his home in Otranto [Mitchell county, Iowa] after his retirement. One of the highlights of his later years was taking each of his three children for visits to his native Denmark.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, six brothers and one sister. He is survived by his three children; Mrs. Roger (Clarice) Miller of Bellevue, Nebraska; Mrs. Dean (Eunice) Johnson of St. Ansgar; and Larry (Nyla) Hansen of St. Ansgar; also two sisters, Mrs. Olene Olsen and Mrs. Kristine Ringsted in Denmark, and seven grandchildren.

Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Stephen Engelstad in charge of committal services.
