STANLEY PALMER KNUTSON
CARPENTER, IOWA — Stanley Palmer Knutson, 80, of rural Carpenter, died Saturday, (August 21, 2004) at Albert Lea Medical Center, Albert Lea, Minn.
His funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Deer Creek Lutheran Church, Carpenter, with the Rev. Myrwood Bagne officiating. Burial will be in the Deer Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be after noon on Tuesday at the church. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Stanley was born May 27, 1924, the son of Sever and Stella (Gordon) Knutson, at the family farm in Barton Township, Worth County, Iowa, where he lived his entire life. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by the Rev. Olaf Langehough at Deer Creek Lutheran Church, Carpenter. He received his public education at the Carpenter school.
Stan devoted his life to the work of the church; as Sunday school secretary for 15 years, and through the years singing in the choir, serving as financial secretary, church treasurer, church custodian and the mowing of the church lawn and cemetery. In recent years he served as advisory member of the cemetery committee.
Stan was a farmer; and also worked for several years as an electrician. He enjoyed woodworking and making plates, bowls and candlesticks on the turning lathe. His recent hobby was chip carving. He was an expert at crossword puzzles and Cryptoquote. He read a lot and always kept his mind busy as well as his hands.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his sister, Lola, several cousins and friends.
