ST. ANSGAR, IOWA — Cynthia (Duenow) Palafox, of Harlingen, Texas died Thursday (May 6, 2004) at her home.

Memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, 207 S. School St., St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Ansgar City Cemetery.

Cynthia was born Dec. 30, 1959, in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Merlyn and Luanna (Moen) Duenow.

Cynthia attended the LeRoy, Minn., schools and graduated from high school in 1978. She continued her education at the Faribault Technical School of Nursing and received her LVN degree. She worked in Houston, Texas, for four years and then moved to El Paso and continued her education and received her R.N. degree.

She worked nine years in a burn unit, then moved to Harlingen and continued her work as a critical care nurse. She loved being out doors, fishing and hunting. Her greatest love was for her family, watching her nieces and nephews grow up. Cynthia was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Robert.

Those left to remember her are her parents, Merlyn and Luanna; brothers, Thomas and wife, Judy; Mark and wife, Cindy; Jeffrey; Bradley and wife, Sheila; sister, Susan Schumann and husband, Kim, and sister-in-law, Bonnie. Nieces and nephews are Jennifer, Amber, Martin, Dylan, Lucas, Rebecca, Joshua, Amanda and Nathan, and great-nieces and nephews, Jacob, Aubrey and Kaitlyn. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
