OSAGE, IOWA — Bertha Tresch, 88, of Mankato, Minnesota, and formerly of Osage, died on Tuesday (Feb. 17, 2004) at Laurel’s Edge Assisted Living in Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with the Rev. Mark Reasoner officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, where there will be rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a scripture wake service at 7 p.m.

BERTHA TRESCH

OSAGE, IOWA — Bertha Tresch, 88, of Mankato, Minn., and formerly of Osage, died Tuesday (Feb. 17, 2004) at Laurel’s Edge Assisted Living in Mankato.

Bertha was born on December 31, 1915, at Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Jules and Zulma (Dezutter) Serleth.

In 1922, she moved with her parents to the Orchard area, graduating from Orchard High School in 1933.

Bertha married Rolland Clark on Nov. 20, 1937, in Osage. They farmed near Orchard. To this union four children were born. He died in February 1944. She continued to live on the farm.

On December 25, 1948, she married Carroll Ford. They moved to Little Cedar in 1951, where they farmed. In 1963 they moved to Osage. He died in December 1964.

Bertha married Lloyd Nack on Nov. 30, 1968, in Osage. He died in September 1982.

She married Alfred Tresch on Jan. 14, 1984, in Osage. They moved to Mount Horeb, Wis. They returned to Osage, where he died Feb. 2, 1994.

She moved to Mankato, Minn., in 1998. She worked with A.G. Dunkelberg, attorney, in tax preparation, and later was employed at the Mitchell County Court House.

She was active in 4-H and served as a group leader. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Guild in Osage.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Hemann (Gervase) of Riceville, and Elizabeth Tabor of Mankato, Minn.; one sister, Elaine Wardlow of Pine Bluff, Ark.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Therese Pudenz of West Salem, Wis., Duane Tresch of Floyd, Carol Herfal of Ferryville, Wis.; numerous stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four husbands; one son, Russell Clark, and an infant son, Ronald Clark; three brothers, George Serleth, Eugene Serleth and Morris Serleth; one sister, Irene Speers; one infant great-grandson, Jordan Wiltse; one son-in-law, Norbert Theis.

Bertha Serleth Clark Ford Nack Tresch, 1915-2004

Mass of Christian burial for Bertha Tresch, age 88, of Mankato, Minnesota, and formerly of Osage, Iowa, was held Friday, February 20, 2004, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with Rev. Mark Reasoner officiating. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage. Bertha died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at Laurel's Edge Assisted Living in Mankato.
