DENNIS LEE DAVIS

KENSETT, IOWA — Dennis Lee Davis, 65, of Kensett, died Tuesday (Feb. 10, 2004) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Deer Creek Lutheran Church in Carpenter, with the Rev. Clarence Baalson officiating. Burial will be in the Deer Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery in Carpenter with military graveside honors by “Our Buddies” VFW Memorial Post #6779 in Northwood.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. S. in Northwood, and one hour prior to service time on Friday at the church.

Dennis Lee Davis was born on Nov. 8, 1938, in Northwood, the son of Burton and Melba (Flatness) Davis. He attended and received his education in the Northwood school system, graduating from Northwood High School in 1957.

He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1957 and was stationed with the 15th Infantry Division in Germany, until his honorable discharge in June of 1960.

He was united in marriage to Carolyn Larson on Dec. 17, 1960, at the Deer Creek Lutheran Church in Carpenter.

After their marriage, they moved to Minneapolis, Minn., where Dennis worked for Honeywell Corporation for 10 years before moving to rural Northwood. After moving back to Northwood, Dennis worked for various companies in the North Iowa area, and retired due to health reasons.

He enjoyed cooking and baking, but his great love and enjoyment was his family and grandchildren.

He was a member of Deer Creek Lutheran Church in Carpenter.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Carolyn Davis of Kensett; five children, Richard Davis and his wife, Wendy, of Northwood, Brenda Davis-Hinz and her husband, Kevin, of Mason City, Lisa Davis and her husband, Erik Grossback, of Minnesota City, Minn., Dyan Braun and her husband, Douglas, of Northwood, and Barbara Caruso and her husband, Andy, of West Des Moines; six grandchildren, Richie Davis and his wife, Sara, of Good Thunder, Minn., Raymond Davis of Mason City, Elizabeth Braun of Northwood, Wolf Davis Grossback of Minnesota City, Minn., Kathleen Hinz of Mason City, and Hunter Davis Grossback of Minnesota City, Minn.; two sisters, Roberta Peterson and her husband, Donald, of Rosemount, Minn., and Lynda Davis of Minneapolis, Minn.; as well as many nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Daniel Davis; and a brother, Richard Davis.
