OSAGE, IOWA — Elizabeth C. Popp, 99, died Wednesday (March 12, 2003) at Faith Home in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with the Rev. Philip Recker officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, where there will be a rosary at 7 p.m. and a scripture service at 7:15 pm.

Elizabeth was born Jan. 18, 1904, near Osage, the daughter of Henry and Catherine (Hovel) Popp. She contracted polio at the age of four and was unable to attend school. Her siblings home-schooled Elizabeth.

She made her home with John and Frances Popp until 1976, when she became a resident at the Faith Home. Family was important to her and her involvement with three generations of the John Popp family.

She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Sacred Heart Guild. Prayer and the rosary were the foundations of her life. She enjoyed crocheting doilies and embroidery. Elizabeth enjoyed music, playing the harmonica and keyboard.

Elizabeth is survived by 20 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Orvin and John; four sisters, Mary Pelleymounter, Edith Meitner, Anna Meitner, and Rose Ginder; and nieces and nephews.
