MARY D. COUNSELL

OSAGE, IOWA - Mary D. Counsell, 77, formerly of Osage, died Wednesday (Feb. 12, 2003) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Mary was born in Washington D.C. on June 25, 1925, the daughter of Percy and Julia (Burke) Murray.

She met and later married Carlin Counsell on Dec. 17, 1950. They farmed for 23 years near New Haven and were the parents of five children: Ann, Sharon, Michael, Nancy and Susan. She sold Watkins and Avon products.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with the Rev. Philip Recker officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage.

Visitation will be one hour before services on Saturday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, 702 State St. in Osage.

She is survived by four daughters, Ann Steenhard and her husband, Alan, of Mason City, Sharon Counsell and her friend, Scott Watson, of Mason City, Nancy Goebel and her husband, Jerry, of Oskaloosa, and Susan Hyke and her husband, Kenny, of Cresco; one son, Michael Counsell and his wife, Penny, of Osage; two sisters, Jean Moore of Washington D.C. and Margaret Hemann and her husband, DeVere, of Keokuk; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
