Don D. Derr, age 69, of Osage, died suddenly on Sunday, April 1, 2001, at his home in Osage.

Graveside services were held on Thursday, April 5, at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Rev. Dennis Hanson officiated. The Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, was in charge of the arrangements.

Don was born on November 10, 1931 at Mason City, the son of John Derr, Sr. and Clara (Moser) Derr. On July 16, 1955, he was united in marriage to Marietta Bunting. To this union was born a son, Duane Derr. Don served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Most of his life he farmed near Strawberry Point, Iowa. From 1984 to 1989 he was employed as a heavy equipment operator. Don had lived in Osage since July of 2000.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and a brother, Calvin Derr.

Those that survive him include a son, Duane Derr of Osage; step-son, Delwin Bunting of Chilton, Wisconsin; sister, Darlene Walke of East Moline, Illinois; brother, John Derr, Jr. of Hazelton, Iowa; and four grandchildren.
