Berdene Sewright, age 72, of Osage, died on Friday, April 13, 2001, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, from injuries sustained in a car accident.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 17, at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Osage. Rev. Rick Magstadt officiated and interment was in the Osage Cemetery.

Berdene was born on September 27, 1928 in Osage, the daughter of Arthur and Golda (Nelson) Williams. She was raised in the Osage area. Berdene was united in marriage to Sterling Sewright on July 23, 1947, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She was retired from social work with the State of Iowa.

Berdene was an active and charter member of The Christian & Missionary Alliance Church. She also taught night school classes for people seeking their high school equivalency diploma. She was a member of the Cedarside Birthday Club.

Memorial contributions may be directed to The Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Osage.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Art and Golda Williams; and one brother Garry Williams.

Those that survive her include her husband, Sterling Sewright of Osage; four children, Gloria Sewright of Austin, Minnesota, Lowell Sewright and wife, Annette of Salem, South Dakota, Janan Skillingstad and husband, Jon of Fergus Falls, Minnesota and Kent Sewright and wife, Jan of Des Moines; sister, Marilyn Malaise and husband, Dale of La Cygne, Kansas; brother, Hilmore “Sonny” Williams and wife, Georgia of Austin, Minnesota; and nine grandchildren.
