REGINA THEIS

NEW HAVEN - Regina Theis, 97, of New Haven, died Wednesday (April 25, 2001) at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Regina was born May 17, 1903, in Elma, the daughter of Otto and Rosina (Peters) Younker. She received her education at Catholic schools in Elma and continued her education at Columbia College in Dubuque.

She returned and taught several years in rural schools in Howard County.

On June 4, 1924, she was united in marriage to Francis Theis in Elma. They farmed near New Haven.

She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Haven, with Father Ray E. Atwood officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in New Haven.

The wake will be held from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, 702 State St. in Osage, with a rosary at 5 p.m. and a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. and one hour before services on Saturday at the church

She is survived by three daughters, Dolores Steffen and her husband, Jim, of Riceville, Catherine Marr, of Sheboygan, Wis., and Pauline Ovel and her husband, Walt, of New Hampton; two sons, Dean Theis and his wife, Bonnie, of New Haven, and Don Theis and his wife, Patricia, of New Haven; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis, in 1987; three brothers; one sister; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Regina Theis, age 97, of New Haven, died on Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage, Mitchell county, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 28, at the St. Peter’s Catholic Church in New Haven. Father Ray E. Atwood officiated and interment was in the St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in New Haven. The Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, was in charge of the arrangements.
