ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Emma Minnie (Rasmussen) Skjeveland, 86, of St. Ansgar died Saturday (April 13, 2002) at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in St. Ansgar.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Deer Creek Lutheran Church in Carpenter with the Rev. Kathy Larson officiating. Burial will be at the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar.

Funeral services for Emma M. Skjeveland, 86, St. Ansgar, who died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, were held Wednesday, April 17 at Deer Creek Lutheran Church, Carpenter, with Rev. Emma Minnie (Rasmussen) Skjeveland was born May 19, 1915 to Peter and Ida (White) Rasmussen in Worth County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She received her education at Deer Creek No. 6 school.
On March 9, 1935 she married Clarence Gaylord Skjeveland at First Lutheran Church, in St. Ansgar. They farmed in the Manchester and Conger, Minnesota area from 1935 until 1971. They attended Grace Lutheran Church in Alden, Minnesota. They retired to an acreage near Otranto for about 18 years. They joined Deer Creek Lutheran Church at Carpenter.
She worked part-time at the lumber yard in Carpenter for several of those years. In 1989 they moved into an apartment in St. Ansgar where she lived until April 4, 2002 when she fell and broke her hip. Emma enjoyed having company and conversation, playing cards, fishing trips with family, dancing and her grandchildren.
Emma is survived by one son, Charles and wife Kathy Skjeveland of Cresco; four grandchildren, Christine Skjeveland of Claremont, Minnesota; Melissa Skjeveland of No. Ft. Myers, Florida; Raylene Hylland of Austin, Texas; and Kirk Hylland of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two great grandchildren, Samantha Hrdlichka and Stewart Graves and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, eight sisters.
Burial was in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood.
