Gail Gaffney Funeral Held February 20, 2002

Funeral services for Gail E. Gaffney, 84, of Mason City, who died Thursday, February 14, 2002 at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center, were held Wednesday, February 20 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City.

Gail was born on March 16, 1917 to March Pacey and Minnie Howe Pacey in Falls Township near Rock Falls, Iowa.

After graduating from Otranto High School she married James Gaffney in Clear Lake on March 26, 1938. Soon after, they moved to Kansas where Jim learned to work in the oil fields. In time Jim began his own business of transporting oil rigging equipment in the Fort Morgan, Colorado area where Gail worked as a bookkeeper. The couple retired in Mason City in 1975. Gail moved to the Mitchell County Nursing Home in December 2000. Gail was active in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City.

Gail is survived by one sister, Carol Blakestad of St. Ansgar; a brother James Pacey and wife Carol of Keystone Heights, Florida; sister-in-law Nora Pacey of Northwood; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, a sister Marcia McArthur; and a brother Robert Howe Pacey.

Burial was at the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.
