Essell Walther

NASHUA, IOWA -- Essell Walther, 76, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002 in Keokuk County as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at St. John Lutheran Church in Frederika, Iowa, with burial in St. Paul's UCC Cemetery in Denver, Iowa.

Essell was born Aug. 30, 1926 in West Union to Ernest and Nellie (Markley) Reasland. She graduated from Osage High School in 1947.

She was married to Lyle Christensen at the Methodist Church in Osage in 1949. They later divorced and she married Harold Walther in 1985 at St. Paul's UCC in Denver.

She was a Licensed Practical Nurse, and graduated from NIACC in 1981. Essell was also active in Eastern Star.

Essell is remembered by her five children: Larry (Lora) Christensen of New Hampton, Richard (Sandy) Christensen of Nashua, Marvin (Kelly) Christensen of Fredericksburg, Steven Christensen of Charles City, Kim (Doug) Wadey of Clarksville; one brother: Clyde (Effie) Reasland of Evansdale; one sister: Charlotte (Bob) Marvin of Humboldt; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Walther in 1987, her parents, Ernest and Nellie (Markley) Reasland; a son: Allen Christensen in 1965; six half-brothers and eight half-sisters.
