Funeral Services for Lloyd A. Fox Held September 13, 1979
Funeral Services for Lloyd A. Fox, prominent St. Ansgar farmer, who died September 10, 1979 at Methodist hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, were held September 13 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage.
The Rev. John P. Smith of St. Ansgar and the Rev. Jacob Roth of Sacred Heart concelebrated the funeral Mass. Rev. Smith and the Knights of Columbus led the Fourth Degree Memorial Chalice Service at the Wake September 12, 1979. Knights provided the honor guard at the Wake and the funeral service and led the funeral procession. Congregational singing was led by the Sacred Heart Choir with Mrs. Ronald Mueller as soloist.
Casket bearers, all nephews of Mr. Fox, were William Meirick of Protivin, Dick Meirick of New Haven, James Miller of River Falls, Wisconsin, Ronnie Dunlay of Fort Madison, John Dunlay of Nashua, and Terry Kolhoff of Loas Angeles, Calif.
Lloyd A. Fox, son of William A. and Mathilda (Berg) Fox, was born June 8, 1912 at the family farm near Mitchell. He was baptized by the Rev. Marten, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic church, Osage. He attended Mitchell grade school and was graduated from Osage high school in the class of 1929.
He married J. Grace Marr of New Haven on February 16, 1935. Two children were born to them: Mrs. Robert (Janice) Valder of Charlotte, North Carolina, and William A. who lives at home. In 1944 the family moved to a farm two miles east of St. Ansgar where he lived until his death.
Mr. Fox was active in many organizations, and in his younger years was a member of the Osage Jaycees and Sunny Brae Gold and Country Club. He was active in the Holy Name Society and a trustee of the St. Ansgar Catholic church from its organization in 1951 until he resigned this spring. He was a charter member of Osage Chapter 4308 of the Knights of Columbus at the time of his death. Mr. Fox was an active member of the board of Directors of the St. Ansgar State Bank and the St. Ansgar Grain and Feed Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In addition to his wife, Grace, and daughter and son, survivors include his grandchildren, Stephen, Patrick, Brenda and Netha Valder; two sisters, Mrs. Kyle (Clarice) Kolhoff and her children, Terry and Janet, and Mrs. Robert (Bernice) Roe and her children, Sharon, Steven and Bruce, all of California; also a host of cousins and friends.
Burial was in the Sacred Heart cemetery in Osage.
