Funeral services for Leland Chester Haugen, 77, of St. Ansgar, Mitchell county, Iowa, who died on Saturday, January 31, 1987, at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar were held on Wednesday, February 4, 1987 at Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Gaylord Grant officiating.
Mr. Haugen was born on October 24, 1909 in Meroa, Mitchell county, Iowa, to Carl K. and Mena Caroline (nee Ask) Haugen.
Mr. Haugen was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He moved with his parents to the farm in Otranto Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, in 1912 and attended schools in Otranto.
He was united in marriage to Hattie Nelson** on November 30, 1935 and farmed in the Mona and Lyle areas. He was a member of the Mona Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Hattie of St. Ansgar, and a brother, Odell Haugen of Osage.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona.
** Note: Obituary was in error. Leland did not marry Hattie Nelson, he married Hattie Hanson, daughter of Magnus Hanson and Betsy Johnson.
