Funeral services for Otto H. Bartz, 77, who died Saturday, September 20, 1952 after a lingering illness, were held Tuesday, September 23, 1952 at the Rock Creek Lutheran church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Fred E. Ide officiating.

Otto was born in 1875 in Wisconsin, to Herman and Wilhelmine Bartz.

The late Mr. Bartz and the former Miss Amalie Rachut were united in marriage on October 3, 1895.

Survivors include seven children: Mrs. Josephine Dutte of St. Ansgar, Erwin Bartz of Kensett, Mrs. Matie Borchardt of Mitchell, Lawrence Bartz at home, Arthur Bartz of Osage, Mrs. Hildegard Dieterich of Grafton, and Harvey Bartz of St. Ansgar; also two sisters, mrs. Martha Hackbarth of St. Ansgar and Mrs. Helene Renz of Minot, North Dakota; one brother, Charles of Minot, North Dakota; 18 grandchildern, and five great-grandchildren.

Otto Herman William Bartz was born January 17, 1875, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Herman and Wilhelmine Falk Bartz. He was baptized on February 14 of the same year and at the age of two came to Iowa with his parents and settled in this community. He was confirmed in the Rock Creek Lutheran church by Pastor Helbig in the spring of 1888.

Mrs. Bartz preceded her husband in death in January of last year [1951]. After their marriage, the young couple made its home on the Albert Rachut place where they lived until 1902 when they moved to the farm which became their home for the remainder of their lives. Mr. Bartz became ill about a year and a half ago and had been in failing health for some time.
