OSAGE, IOWA - Kenneth D. Jorgensen, age 68, of Osage, died on Sunday, December 14, 2008, at the Mitchell Country Regional Health Center-Hospice Unit in Osage.

Kenneth was born on February 19, 1940, in Creighton, Nebraska, the son of Ervin and Helen (Olsen) Jorgensen. In 1942, the family moved to a farm near Riceville. Kenneth and his brothers attended the Jamestown No. 1 School until 1948, when his parents bought a farm three miles northwest of Osage. Kenneth and his brothers attended Washington Elementary and Osage Junior and Senior High School.

Kenneth worked farm and carpentry jobs in the summer during his youth. From January of 1959 until January of 1971, Kenneth worked on the assembly line at Oliver Corp. (White Farms). From 1971 until his retirement in 2003, Kenneth farmed with his twin brother, Keith, on their farm east of Osage. He was in the Iowa National Guard from 1962 to 1968, serving as a platoon squad leader.

Kenneth was confirmed in 1955 and became a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage, where he served as an usher for many years. Kenneth enjoyed biking on a trail in southern Minnesota, collecting toy tractors, and attending car shows.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott, officiating. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery.

Kenneth is survived by his twin brother, Keith Jorgensen of Osage; an older brother, Milton Jorgensen of Winchester, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jerome and Lloyd Jorgensen.

Arrangements are by Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage - 641-732-3706.
