Zola Naig, age 87, of Osage, Mitchell County, Iowa, died on Monday, December 1, 2008, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2008, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Pastor Gary Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Zola was born July 30, 1921, at David, Iowa, the daughter of Oscar and Belle (McKinney) Fleenor. She graduated from Osage High School in 1938. They were the first class in Osage to wear caps and gowns. Zola married Lloyd "PeeWee" Naig on October 18, 1942, in Riceville, Iowa. He passed away in December of 1962.
She worked for ten years at the ASCS office in Osage, and then was Mitchell County Recorder until she retired in 1991. Zola was a member of the David Church in David, Iowa. She enjoyed bowling, going to sports events at school, traveling, and working in her garden.
Zola is survived by a daughter, Jo (Jim) Boerjan of Osage; two sons, Terry (Sharon) Naig of Amity, Oregon, Mark Naig of Dallas, Texas; granddaughters, Libby (Scott) Krebsbach of Denver, Iowa, Carey (Craig) Singsank of Racine, Wisconsin; grandson, Andy Boerjan and fiancé Lacey Ruehlow of Ankeny; great-grandchildren, Derek and Rachel Krebsbach, Jake Singsank; sisters, Mary Horgan of Osage, Betty (Roger) Moore of Elgin, Illinois; sister-in-law, Dorothy Sweda of Garden City, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Belle Fleenor; her husband, Lloyd "PeeWee" Naig; sisters, Ruby Weber, Hazel Benson, Ruth Schultz; and brother, Roy Fleenor.
