RICEVILLE, IOWA - Loyd Dan Foster, age 84, of Riceville, passed away on Saturday (Nov. 22, 2008) at the Patty Elwood Center in Cresco, Howard county, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday Nov. 26, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Riceville, with the Rev. Michael Parris officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Riceville (Mitchell county, Iowa).

Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.

Loyd was born on April 8, 1924, to James C. and Myrna (Gooder) Foster in rural Riceville. He attended local schools and graduated from Riceville High School.

Loyd was united in marriage to Geraldine M. House on April 18, 1944, in Riceville. To this union four sons were born: Dean, Donald, Lee and Gary. Loyd was a retired farmer. He enjoyed his Sunday outings with Geraldine for lunch and Sunday drives.

Loyd is survived by four sons: Dean and his wife, Norma Foster, of Riceville; Don and his wife, Debra Foster, of Greene; Lee and his wife, Jean Foster, of Riceville; and Gary and his wife, Janice Foster, of Riceville; 15 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren.

Loyd was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Geraldine, one grandson, one daughter-in-law, two brothers, Lyle and Curtis, and a sister, Carol Foster.
