Leona V. Schwenneker, 97, of Burbank, California, died at her home on Wednesday, April 9, 2008.

She was born on February 25, 1911, in Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, daughter of William and Grace Patterson Bixby.

Leona was a beautiful, warm, loving, compassionate and generous woman. She was devoted to her family and friends and was happiest when surrounded by those she loved.

Leona moved from Iowa to Burbank, California, during World War II where, after the war, she met Lynn Schwenneker.

Leona lived to the fullest every minute of her 97 years and her light will continue to shine in our lives forever.

She is survived by her husband, Lynn of Burbank, daughter-in-law Eve Hunemiller of Valley Center, California, grandson Gregg Hunemiller and his wife Brenda of Upland, California, granddaughter Karen Ehlers and her husband Roger of San Diego, California, granddaughter Karla Riley and her husband Jeff of Alta Loma, California, three great-grandchildren: Kasey Seldon and her husband Jason of Dayton, Nevada, Travis Riley of Alta Loma, California, Breanna Riley of Tucson, Arizona, brother Carlyle A. Bixby of Waterloo, sister Laura Buchholz and her husband Roger of Cedar Falls, and sister Wanda Anderson and her husband George Petersen of Cedar Falls.

Leona is preceded in death by son Robert Hunemiller: six brothers: William, Leonard, Kenneth, Donald, Raymond and Clair; two sisters: Mildred L. Cook and Vesta M. Troyer.

Interment was at the Osage Cemetery in Osage, Mitchell county, Iowa.
