ST. ANSGAR - Richard Alan "Dick" Trettin, 69, of St. Ansgar, died Sunday (July 13, 2008) at Hospice Care Unit in the Mitchell County Regional Health Care Center in Osage.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., July 15, 2008, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Dr. Byron Northwick officiating. Inurnment will be in the St. Ansgar Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Richard was born Oct. 21, 1938, to Floyd and Gladys (Clemenson) Trettin. He was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton. He graduated from Grafton High School in 1957 after which he joined the Army. He served two years in the service, six months in Greenland as a heavy-equipment operator. After an honorable discharge he spent two years in the Reserves and in 1959 started farming with his dad.
He enjoyed camping, tractor pulling, fishing, riding and racing snowmobiles, and also woodworking.
Richard married Delores Bublitz on July 30, 1960. They lived east of Grafton, and then moved north of Osage where he and his dad continued farming and did custom farming. They were blessed with two sons, Mark and Michael. In the late '70s they moved to St. Ansgar and continued his custom farming operations until 1984. He worked for LR Falk Construction until 1989 when his health forced him into retirement. He moved to the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center in January of 2002.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Delores; son, Mark and wife Renae of Grafton, grandchildren, D.J., Jacob and Melissa; son, Michael and wife Mindy of Toeterville, and granddaughter Morgan; sisters, Kathryn (Russell) Rosenberg of St. Ansgar and Karen Scharper of Montezuma; and nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are with the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar. 641- 713-4920.
