Vernice S. (Winterton) Wetzel, age 100, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, died on Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center. Memorial services were held on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery south of St. Ansgar.
Vernice S. Winterton was born on June 24, 1907 to George and Eda (Flemmig) Winterton in Thor, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Frank Wetzel, and by a son, Laurence D. Carroll.
Vernice is survived by her son Bob D. Whitaker of West Des Moines, Iowa, by a daughter, Marvyl Carroll Lambert of Mitchell, Iowa, by two sisters Laura Mostek of Mitchell and Marcell Ohnemus of Fall Creek, Wisconsin; also by seven grandchildren: Peggy Otting, Susan Seiler, Laurence Carroll, Tracy Lambert, Brenda Lambert, Chad Whitaker, Ryan Whitaker.
