MCINTIRE WOMAN FOUND DEAD
IN HER HOME MON.

FOUND MORE THAN $500.00
CONCELED ON BODY IN
MONEY BELT.

Mrs. Charles Muncey, 85, was found dead in her home at McIntire about 9:00 o'clock Monday evening by neighbors who investigated after there had been no light in her home, nor smoke from her chimmney for a day.

County coroner G. L. Krepelka said that she had been dead probably 24 hours. The remains were taken to the Champion funeral home where about $550 was found on her person in a homemade money belt.

Was Eccentric

Mrs. Muncey was a remarkable woman for her age, active and alert and about her home every day.
She had made many trips to the clinic at Rochester for treatment. A few days ago she became ill and her neighbor, the C. J. Graces, had consequently kept a close watch on her.

However, on Monday they saw no signs of life abut her residence, so made inquries and found that an elderly woman had bought a ticket for Rochester at the Great Western Depot. They believed it was Mrs. Muncy, so waited until the train returned in the evening before investigating.

When she did not get off the train they went immediately to her home; forced their way in, and found her dead on the floor, apparently having died of heart disease.

Barricaded in Room

Mrs. Muncey and her husband occupied a large home on the edge of McIntire for many years.
He died about three years ago, and she continued to live there until about a year and a half ago.
Then she went to California and upon her return, moved into a small residence in the town of McIntire.

Friends say that she barricaded herself in one room in this house and disliked having people spend very much time with her. Sunday friends tried to given her assistance, knowing she was ill, but she told them she wanted to be alone.

Born in New Zeland

Mrs. Muncey came to this country with her parents from New Zeland, but little is known about the family. The only surviving member is her brother, Theodore Johnson whose address friends did not know. She was Lizzie Johnson before her marriage.

Mrs. Muncey and her late husband had been at one time considered very well off financilly, but the property had declined in value during recent years, and both had received old age assitance.
Evidently she had prepared for some unforseen emergency by concealing what money she had.

She is said to have owned the house in which she resided. It was her parents old home.

A niece from Brainerd, Minn., came to take charge of the funeral and make other business arrangements. Funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., in charge of the Rev. Bodenham. Burial was in the Osage cemetery.
