ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Jerry Michael Kline, age 61, of St. Ansgar, Mitchell county, Iowa, died on Friday, May 23, 2008, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, from complications due to a bone marrow transplant he received on June 13, 2006, to assist in battling leukemia.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, at the United Methodist Church in St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Peter Chang officiating. Burial will take place at the St. Ansgar Cemetery.

Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, 207 S. School St. in St. Ansgar is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Jerry Kline Memorial Fund. Donations will go to various organizations that were important to him.

Jerry Michael Kline was born Sept. 26, 1946, to William and Agnes (Trench) Kline. Jerry graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1965, attended NIACC and Mankato State. He later joined The U.S Army and served in Vietnam.

He married Sue Brasch of St. Ansgar, on July 6, 1971. They spent two years in Dubuque before returning to St. Ansgar, where their children, Tara Thorson and Eric Kline, were born. Sue died on February 24, 2002.

In his marriage to Sue Brasch, he is survived by his father-in-law and mother-in law, Claire and Dorothy Brasch; sisters-in-law, Sally Emerson Brasch and Barb (Rex) Ray; and brother-in-law, Bob Brasch.

He married Margie Hansen, of St. Ansgar, on January 29, 2003. Though their time together wasn't near long enough, the memories and experiences they shared spanned a lifetime.

Jerry was a member of the St. Ansgar American Legion Post 358 and a volunteer fire fighter. He was the owner/manager of BK Feeds in St. Ansgar for 27 years. Jerry was an avid gardener and sports enthusiast.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Margie Kline; his children, Tara (Cory) Thorson and Eric (Sunny) Kline; step-children, Shalome (Chuck) Tonelli, Brandi (Kyle) Malmin, Tanner Hansen and Hannah Hansen; grandchildren, Elle, Cadence, Mayzee and Tyson; step-grandchildren, Izzy, Kamen, Madison and Maria; mother-in-law, Laura Bublitz; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Clarice Duvall; sisters, Diane (Roger) Zuehl, Nancy (Don) Salisbury, Janet (Bob) Bruesewitz, Sonja (Tom) Yahnke and Linda Currens; his brothers-in-law, Jim Duvall, John (Sandi) Duvall and Dan Nack; sisters-in-law, Carol (Jack) Kline and Donella (Jim) Kline.

Jerry was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Kline; parents, William and Agnes Kline; step-father, Buddy Heimer; brothers, Jack Kline and Jim Kline and an infant brother.
