Delores E. Suby, 76, of Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, died Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Visitation was held from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2008, with a prayer service at 5 p.m. with Rev. Mark Lavrenz of Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating. Inurnment will be in Brush Point Cemetery in Fertile, Iowa at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Delores Suby memorial fund.
Delores Elizabeth Borchardt was born March 17, 1932 in rural Plymouth, Iowa, the daughter of Alvin and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Borchardt. She graduated from Rock Falls High School in 1949. She worked for the Osage Knitting Mill as a Flat Knitter for 5 years. She also did secretarial work for various churches. On September 28, 1956 she married Boyd C. Suby in Grafton, Iowa. In 1957 she moved to Fertile and later moved to Mason City in 1986. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren, crocheting, and gardening flowers & vegetables. Delores was a resident at Heritage Care Center for the last several years.
She is survived by her husband Boyd; her children, Cindy Bidne and husband Kevin of Fertile, Jean Leraaen of Mason City, and Joan Snyder and husband Jeff of Meservey, Iowa; two brothers, Galen Borchardt and wife Melba of Forest City, and Glendon Borchardt of Osage; five grandchildren, Katelyn, Tyler, John, Adam, and Katie. She is also survived by many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two daughters: Peggy Sue Suby and Rochelle Suby.
