CONWAY, SC--Norma Jane (Countryman) Severson, 85, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 23, 2008, surrounded by her family.

Born July 24, 1922 in Sibley, Iowa to Ora (Weimer) and Glenn C. Countryman, Norma spent her grade school years growing up in rural Iowa, until her family moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she attended Central High School. Upon graduation, she took a job as a comptometer operator for the Standard Oil Company in Minneapolis.

Through a mutual friend, Norma was introduced to and fell in love with Mr. Robert L. (Bob) Severson, whom she married on February 14, 1942 in Cambridge, Minnesota. With war having been declared, Bob volunteered for the Army Air Corps. Throughout his advanced training, Norma moved along with her husband, until he was stationed overseas, at which point she returned home to Minneapolis to live with her family.

Upon Bob's highly decorated return, a family was started and his career took them to several locations over the next 55 years, including eight years in Osage, Iowa; eight years in San Jose, California and 39 years in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. In December of 2006, Norma and Bob moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, before settling into a new home in Conway, South Carolina this past September.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Maxine Siderides Evans.

In addition to her loving husband of 66 years, she is survived by her daughter Diane White of Conway, SC; her son Robert G. Severson and wife Quincey of Gunnison, CO; a granddaughter Patricia K. White-Wisniewski and her husband Jeffrey Alan Wisniewski of Longs, SC; two grandsons, Colby Severson and his wife Annette of Superior, CO and Kassidy Severson and his fiancée Kelli Cadwell, also of Superior, CO; as well as two great granddaughters, Kailey and Brenna Severson of Superior, CO.

Visitation was held Friday, February 29 at the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home in Dallas, Wisconsin.

Funeral service was held Saturday, March 1 at the Dallas Lutheran Church with Pastor Michael Fish officiating. Burial followed at the Dallas Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th floor, New York, NY 10001. Arrangements were with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Dallas & Cameron, WI.
