Funeral services for Bernard J. Hemann, 87, Stacyville, who died February 15, were held Feb. 18 at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, with the Rev. Melvin Hemann officiating. Burial was in the Visitation Catholic Cemetery, Stacyville.

Mr. Hemann was born July 16, 1904 at Stacyville to Mathias and Gertrude (Hackenmiller) Hemann. He attended Visitation School.

He was married to Olive S. Halbach October 26, 1927 at Stacyville. Mr. Hemann was a life long member of Visitation Catholic Church, and was active with the Catholic Order of Foresters, both on local and state levels. He served as state court trustee with the Foresters and was a member of Knights of Columbus.

He farmed the Hemann homestead which is one of Iowa's Century farms. In 1962, after retiring, Bernard worked part time for the city of Stacyville and also became an active member of the Mitchell County Historical Society.

He is survived by his children, Rev. Melvin Hemann, Rickardsville; Kathleen (Mrs. Clemens) Full, Iowa City; James W. Hemann, Garner; Sister Camilla Hemann, Dubuque; Mathew Hemann, Stacyville; Lucille (Mrs. Helmut) Mueller, Palatine, Illinois; and Rev. Everett Hemann of Dubuque; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, three brothers and seven sisters.
