OBITUARY.
On Saturday, Sept. 25th, occured the death of Mrs. S. Coon. Mrs. S. Coon was born in County Cork, Ireland in the year 1834. When 17 years of age, she came to this country. Mrs. Coon was married twice. Her first husband's name was Dailey. Two children were born of the first marriage. Mr. Dailey died leaving his wife with her two small children to care for. In 1859 she married S. Coon. Their married life was one of happiness and peace. The breaved husband and six children are left to mourn a good, faithful wife and kindhearted mother.
Mrs. Coon was an exceptionally good woman, ever faithful to her husband and children, always desirous of having them around, and doing everything in her power to make her home one of joy and happiness. She was a truly Christian woman, and a devout member of the Catholic church. The funeral took place on Tuesday, Sept. 28th, from the Sacred Heart Church. Requiem high mass was sung by her pastor, Father Bowen. After mass, Father Bowen paid a glowing tribute to the departed; extolled her Christian qualities, told of patience during her illness, and of her perfect resignation to meet death since her Redeemer so willed it. He spoke feelingly to the breaved husband and children, telling them to seek consolation in their present great sorrow, from the giver of all consolation, our Lord and Redeemer, Jesus Christ; to take consolation from the fact that they were laying away in mother earth a good, faithful wife and mother, who filled her little part here on earth and had now gone to receive her heavenly reward. He requested all present to pray for the dead, and to ask God that when our time would come, we too, would die a holy and happy death. The floral offerings were beautiful. Among them was one from the Rosary Society, of which the deceased was a faithful member. The church was crowded to its utmost capacity, including all creeds who came to pay their last tribute of love and respect to their esteembed and ever kind neighbor.
The remains were intered at the Mitchell cemetery, beside her two children, were laid all that remained mortal of this good woman.
