Oscar I. Berge, age 87, of Osage, Mitchell County, Iowa, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, February 8, 2008, at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Avenue, rural Osage, with the Rev. R. Dawson Tornes officiating. Burial was in the Rock Creek Cemetery.
Oscar Ingvald Berge was born on October 8, 1920, in rural Osage, to Lars and Tilda (Hegg) Berge. Oscar grew up on the family farm and attended Cedar No. 6 School. Oscar was baptized and confirmed by Reverend O.C. Myre at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, where Oscar was a life long member.
On March 20, 1954, Oscar married Myrtle Anderson of Lake Mills, Iowa. They lived on and farmed the family farm until his retirement in 1989, at which time they moved to Osage.
Oscar is survived by his wife, Myrtle Berge of Osage, and by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by his brother, Pervin Berge; and by a sister, Stella Martin.
Arrangements were by Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage (641)732-3706.
