Frances R. Wilson was born in Sutton, Vermont, May 12, 1833, and died in Stacyville, Iowa, Dec. 25, 1907, at the age of 74 years. She was married in Feb. 1858 to Francis D. Gilles, moving to Brown Co. Ill., where she resided for about six years. In 1865 she moved to Stacyville where she resided until her death.
Four children and a husband preceded her to the better world. Three children remain to mourn her departure. She was a member of a large family of brothers and sisters, only two of whom survive her.
She was a Christian from childhood and united with the Methodist church early in life and continued a faithful member until her death. Of late years she was a great sufferer but at the last she passed quietly to her eternal rest. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon from the home of Mr. James Penney, Rev. Maxwell in charge. A large number of friends followed here body to Stacyville cemetery where it was laid to wait the Resurrection morning.
