MILLIS GRAVES RUFFRIDGE

Ruth Elizabeth Millis, 94, of Northwood, Iowa, and formerly of Mitchell county, Iowa, died Monday, July 9, 2007 at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood where she had resided since 2002.

Ruth was born in Worth County, Iowa, on Nov. 18, 1912 daughter of Henry Oscar Ruffridge and Myra Jane Graves. She attended country school in rural Grafton until the age of 12 when her mother passed away. She remained at home to help her father care for her four brothers and sister.

Ruth married Clarence Millis on December 14, 1933. In 1944 they moved to the Christian and Doris Hansen farm near St. Ansgar, Iowa, where they helped in the farming of produce for over 25 years. After retirement, they moved to a small acreage south of Lyle, Minn.

Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Shirley Schoppers of Harmony, Minnesota, and Sherry (Donald) Posthumus of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; by grandchildren: Sandra (John) Fahlberg, Beresford, S.D.; Eric (Julie) Halvorson, Owatonna, Minn.; Larry (Lorry) Schoppers, Cresco, Iowa; Lori (Terry) Bruner, Mandan, N.D.; Cheryl Hansen, Sheldon, Iowa; Steve (Barb) Schoppers, Alden, Minn.; Jayna Jacobsen, Oakdale, Minn.; and Sara Jacobsen, Inver Grove Heights; by 13 great-grandchildren; by three great-great-grandchildren; and by two brothers, Donald and Harvey Ruffridge of Northwood.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, by sisters, Lucille Van Orden and Pearl Grundel, and by brothers, Lloyd and Myron Ruffridge.

A funeral service was held on Friday, July 13, 2007, at the United Methodist Church, 1000 First Ave. North, Northwood. Burial was in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood.

Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
