MRS. BEN HALVERSON

Helen S. Halverson, age 99, of Osage, Iowa, died on Friday, June 29, 2007, at the Riceville Community Rest Home in Riceville.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage with Reverend Dennis Hanson and Reverend Roy Ott officiating Interment was at the Osage Cemetery.

Helen was born January 28, 1908 to Gottlieb and Libby (Fell) Mauser, near La Porte City. She moved with her parents to a farm in Mitchell County at the age of four, where she lived most of her adult life. She graduated from Osage High School and then worked at various office jobs. Helen was united in marriage to Ben Halverson on March 6, 1934 at her parent's home near New Haven. They farmed in the Orchard area until 1942, when they purchased a farm near McIntire, where they lived until their retirement to Osage in 1972. Helen moved to Leroy, Minn. in June of 2006.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ben, a daughter-in-law Linda Halverson, four brothers and two sisters.

Her survivors include three daughters, Nancy (Terry) Fitzpatrick of Lynnville, Bonnie (Max) Wagner of Eagan, Minn.; Kathy (Jim) Bartels of Stewartville, Minn. and one son Jim Halverson of Montrose; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Connie Mauser of Osage, Jeanette Halverson of Lodi, Wisc. and several nieces and nephews.
