Elmer K. Clausen, age 97, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, died June 7, 2007 at Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar. Funeral services were held on Monday, June 11, 2007 at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, with Rev. Robert Porisch officiating. Burial was in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.
Elmer Kenneth Clausen was born April 21, 1910 to Rosa and Jacob Clausen in Stacyville, Iowa. He was baptized into the Christian faith at the Presbyterian Church, rural Stacyville, and also confirmed at the Presbyterian Church.
After completing 8th grade at Union School, he worked on the family farm.
He married Marie Hofland on June 10, 1935, by Rev. Ullonsong, at the home of Marie's parents in Reeder, North Dakota. After their marriage, Elmer and Marie made their home on a farm near Stacyville, Iowa.
Elmer played slide trombone in the Lybarger Orchestra. He farmed for 35 years and also worked for Hatten in Stacyville, doing electrical and plumbing work.
In 1967, Elmer and Marie moved to St. Ansgar, Iowa and he worked part-time for Falk Quarries. They enjoyed spending time at their trailer in Waterville, Minnesota.
Elmer had lived at the Worth/Manor Home for 15 years, but passed away on June 7th at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center, where he had lived for only one month.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother.
He is survived by two sons, Ronald and wife Audrey Clausen of Rochester, Minnesota; Rodney of Red Wing, Minnesota; by three daughters: Myrna and husband, Eugene Heskett of Madera, California; Shirley and husband Norman Kittleson of St. Ansgar, Iowa; Ann and husband Dean Boynton of Anoka, Minnesota; by 13 grandchildren, by 24 great-grandchildren, and by four great-great-grandchildren.
