A former Osage resident, L. Frances Lundberg, age 89, died Thursday, April 12, 2007, at Sunrise Senior Living in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. A graveside service will be held on May 26, 2007, in Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City, Iowa.

L. Frances Lundberg was born on November 5, 1917, the daughter of James and Elsie Loper in Sperry, Iowa. She was a graduate of Sperry High School and attended Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa, before transferring to Iowa State University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics Education in 1939. She taught school one year in Creston, Iowa, before being united in marriage to Elmer G. Lundberg at the bride's home on September 1, 1940.

The couple lived in West Grove, Pennsylvania, for a short time before returning to the Midwest, living and working in Shenandoah, Iowa, and then Yankton, S.D.

Frances moved to Osage, Iowa, in 1950, where she and Elmer became the owners and operators of the Osage Greenhouse, a greenhouse, florist shop and nursery located at 309 Main street, which was later renamed Lundberg's. She was the business manager, keeping books, taking orders and waiting on customers. She and Elmer retired in 1977, after more than 26 years in the florist business. She lived in Bentonville, Arkansas, for 20 years before moving to Omaha, Nebraska, and finally Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer; parents, James and Elsie Loper; and brother, Max.

Surviving members of her family are her son, James Lundberg and wife Cathy of Omaha, Nebraska, and daughter, Jeanene Reddick and husband Steven Reddick of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; five grandchildren, Todd Lundberg of Omaha, Nebraska, Meggen Snyder of New York, N.Y., Michael Reddick of Torrance, California, Matthew Reddick of Dayton, Ohio, and Jessica Reddick of Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
