Funeral services for Robert J. Olson, age 78, of Osage, Iowa, were held on Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Bruce Kaltwasser officiating. Burial was in the Osage Cemetery. Robert died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Bob was born May 15, 1928, at Osage, Iowa, the son of Julius and Inga (Linsted) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church in Meroa, Iowa.

He was married to Doris Dowd on August 17, 1950, in Lyle, Minnesota. Bob worked as an auto mechanic in St. Ansgar, Iowa and in Osage. He drove a gas transport for the Co-op Oil Company for 25 years, until he retired in 1989. Bob was honored by the Co-op for driving 2.5 million miles without an accident.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jean and Melvin Olson; a granddaughter, Rae Ann Huffman, and an aunt, Olga Olson.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Doris Olson of Osage; his son, Robert (Kathy) Olson of Forest City; his daughters, Betty (Steve) Huffman of Stacyville, and JoAnn (Alan) Wagner of Orchard; grandchildren, Angie (Chad) Chadwick of Omaha, Neb., Shawn (Kari) Olson of Forest City, Randi (Tim ) Callahan of Farmington, Minn., Robby Huffman of Cedar Falls, Ryan Huffman of Mason City, Nick (Elyse) Wagner of Osage, Melissa Wagner of Orchard, and Misty Pollard of Woodbury, Minn.; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Morgan Chadwick, Andy and Brooke Olson, Makayla and Karlie Wagner, and Jamison Callahan; one brother, Keith (Delores) Olson of Osage; and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were made by Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, (641)732-3706.
