Mr. Bryant was married to Miss Eliza A. Walling, November 10, 1857, at the home of Mrs. Mary Walling in Mitchell county, Iowa. This union viz:

F.D. Bryant of Orchard, Iowa.Mrs. Eliza A. Bryant passed away July 11, 1874, leaving the responsibility of the home and family which fell upon the father. Therefore, Mr. Bryant, with his happy disposition was enabled to rear his children in a kind and loving way with the gentle words and loving counsel of the eldest daughter, Mrs. Westfall, which can never be forgotten by the younger children as she took the mother's place and guided them to helpful ways of lightening the father's cares.
Mr. Bryant was married to Miss Maria L. Snody of N. Y., in 1886. This union was blessed with a daughter, Miss Kitty May.
One of the foundation principles of the business world should be strict honesty in all transactions. Mr. Bryant was honest to a cent.
The Sermon on the mount is a revelation of truth that has never been equalled in all the history of literature. It places special emphasis upon the great need there is in all society of being a peace maker. The whole of Mr. Bryant's influence was always exerted for peace.Public spirited men are always interested in whatever helps mankind in the onward march to that which elevates and enables.
Mr. Bryant was always interested in every enterprise that made it easy for man to make grand and noble attainments.
He was one of the trustees of the First Congregational church of Orchard and no one rejoiced more than he in the success with which God crowned the efforts of his servants in our new church enterprise. Mr. Bryant loved the church and was always pained when he heard anyone speak discouragingly of it.
I am told by one of the Deacons that he had been a communicant for more than fifteen years. He told his pastor again and again when asked about the prospects for the other world that it was well with his soul.
