OBITUARY OF THOMAS DOWD

Thomas Dowd died at his home in Osage, last Monday, October 1, 1900, as the result of a third
stroke of paralysis.

Mr. Dowd was born in County West Meah, Ireland, March 25, 1832. As early as 1861 he emigrated to America and settled at Maidena, N.Y., where he was married to Katherine Flattery, June 6, 1868. During the first eight years of the 60's he was engaged in mining in California and New Mexico. In the spring of 1868 he brought his family west and for a time lived in Watertown, Wisconsin.

In 1871 they moved to Mitchell county, Iowa, making a home in Douglas township, where they lived a quarter of a century. Mr. Dowd lived in Blooming Priarie, Minnesota, but returned to Osage during the past year. He was a man of integrity and honor, enjoying the confidence of his friends and neighbors.

Two sons, Frank and Martin, and three daughters, Mrs. Wm. Egan, Allie and Mamie Dowd, survive the father.

The funeral services were held in St. Peter's Catholic church at New Haven, yesterday, October 10th, Rev. Fathers Barry and Martin officiating.
A number from Blooming Prairie attended the last sad rites to the memory of their departed friend.
