Mrs William Egan Died Sunday
After Lingering IllnessMargaret Mary Dowd was born near Osage in Douglas Township on Aug. 11, 1870, and passed away Sept. 11, 1932, after a brave fight against disease.
She grew to womanhood in this county and was educated and taught in our schools.
Her marriage to William H. Egan, Osage, took place on Oct. 14, 1896, at Blooming Prairie, Minn. They settled on a farm near Osage, where they lived for fifteen years. Here their three daughters, Margaret, Gertrude and Catherine were born.
They later moved to their present home here in Osage, where they have resided for twenty-two years.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock at the Sacred Heart church, of which she has been a devoted and faithful member. The Rev. J.P. Martin, her pastor, conducted the last sad rites and her body was laid to rest in the Sacred Heart cemetery.
The beautiful tribute paid by her pastor voiced the sentiments of all who heard it, and spoke in no uncertain terms of the high esteem in which she was held by all who knew her.
Those left to mourn her loss are her husband, her daughters, Mrs. Ray Supple, Hopkinton, Gertrude, at home and Mrs. Ralph Fox, of Orchard; her sisters, Mrs. Harvey Miller, Lyle, and Mrs. M. J. Fallow, of Plummer, Minn.
There are six grandchildren; Marcus and Rosemary Supple; and Ralph, Dolores, Pauline and Catherine
Ann Fox, besides a host of loving relatives and friends.Pale, withered hands that more than three score years,
Had wrought for others-soothed the hurt of tears,
Rocked children's cradles-eased the fevers smart,
Dropped tenderest balm to many an aching heart;
Now folded like wan rose leaves pressed.
Above the snow and silence of her breast,
In mute appeal they tell of labors done.
And well-earned rest that comes with set of sun.
From the worn brow the lines of care are swept,
As if an angel kissed them as she slept,
Had smoothed the cobweb wrinkles away,
And given back the peace of child-hood days.
