Small Child Died From Poisoning;
Ill Just One Day

Dorothy Ann, 3-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Clayton, died at the farm home northwest of Osage Friday evening, after being ill just a day with ptomaine poisoning. Her 4 year old brother was also critically ill for several days, and a new baby was born into the the home on the day the little girl was buried.

The children were taken ill early Friday morning, and in a short time Dorothy's fever reached a height where there was no help for her. She passed away that evening. It is impossible to ascertain how they took the poision, as the other members of the family were not at all affected.

These two children, however were playing in the garden, eating tomatoes and groundcherries, and it is thought very probable that the over-ripe tomatoes caused the trouble.

Mrs. Clayton was able to attend the funeral held at the Champion funeral home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, in charge of the Rev. Allen, but soon after returning to her home, she gave birth to a baby daughter.

Surviving besides the parents are three boys, aged 4 years, 6 years, and 17 months and the new baby daughter.

Mrs Clayton, before her marriage, was Miss Bertha Popp, and is a daughter of Mrs. John Popp.

Mrs. John Popp, Jr., came from Manly Saturday to assist at the home of the Henry Claytons.
