Funeral services for Joyce Hveem, age 88, of Osage, Iowa, will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2006, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Dennis Hanson and Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery.
Joyce died Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at her residence at the Faith Home Assisted Living in Osage.
Joyce was born November 18, 1918, at Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Gustav and Margaret (Bahnsen) Paulson. She graduated from Osage High School in 1936. Joyce taught at rural school Cedar No. 5 from 1936 to 1940. On June 4, 1939, she married Hans Hveem in Osage.
Joyce was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Eve Circle. She was a lifetime member and Past Commander of the Osage V.F. W. Post 7920 Ladies Auxiliary. Her interests included farming, sewing, hand quilting, gardening, and baking.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hans Hveem; two brothers, Gaylon Paulson and Carroll Paulson; a sister, Twyla Paulson; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Hveem.
Joyce is survived by two sons, Gary (Frances) Hveem of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Howard Hveem of Cedar Falls; one daughter, Marcia (Bill) Dedic of Waterloo; a sister, Bonnie (John) Picht of Plymouth; three grandchildren, Todd (Jacque) Hveem, Jennifer (Rick) Jennings, Joshua (Debra) Hveem; step-grandchildren, Christopher Dedic, Melissa (Chris) Reed; seven great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
The Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, was in charge of arrangements, (641)732-3706.
