Stuart Penney, age 85, an Ames, Iowa, resident since 1997 and formerly of Stacyville, Iowa, died Saturday, November 18, 2006 at Ames, Iowa. Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006 at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, Iowa. Reverend Father John Moser officiated. Burial was in Visitation Catholic Church Cemetery, Stacyville.

Stuart was born July 18, 1921 at Little Cedar, Iowa, the son of Hubert and Gladys (Makepeace) Penney and was a 1937 graduate of the Little Cedar Consolidated School. He farmed near Stacyville and was a meat cutter for Hormel's. Stuart served in the US Navy as an airman machinist mate 1st Class during World War II.

He was married to Rosemary Kreber on March 12, 1945 in Austin, Minnesota;. and was a member of Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville; a 61-year member of Hale Penney Fuller American Legion Post 569; and Hormel Retirees.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary in 2001; son, John Penney, infant daughter Theresa Penney and his sister Dorothy Drum.

Immediate survivors include his children, Jim Penney (Heather); Mary Jo Pfeifer Wulf (Larry); Deb Penney (John Morrow); Elayne Penney-Timmons (Steve); Rita Martens (Fredrick); Ann Penney-Decker (Dale); Donna Boerjan (Paul); his brother Howard Penney (Minnie) Penney of Osage; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Adams Funeral Home in Ames was in charge of arrangements.
