Doris Irene (Penney) Canny, age 87, of Osage, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 16, 2006, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center-Hospice Unit in Osage, Iowa.

According to Doris' wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.

Doris was born December 7, 1918, at Little Cedar, Iowa, the daughter of Sidney and Helen (Fairbanks) Penney. She graduated from Little Cedar Consolidated School in 1937. On June 17, 1937, Doris was united in marriage to Glen Canny in Mason City, Iowa. She was a long time member of the Osage First United Methodist Church, and was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen Canny; a son, Ronald Canny; a brother, Vinus "Bill" Penney; and a sister, Mildred "Babe" Canny.

Doris is survived by two daughters, Sharon Theobald of Stacyville, Iowa, and Diane Canny of Bloomington, Minn.; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Canny of Orchard, Iowa; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Merle (Marge) Penney of Osage, and Earle (Beverly) Penney of Little Cedar; and numerous nephews and nieces.
