Mahlon Galt "Andy" Anderson, age 79 of Austin, Minnesota, died Sunday, March 20, 2005 at the home of his son Craig Anderson.

He was born on June 6, 1925 to John T. and Irene Anderson on a farm west of Meltonville, Iowa. In 1938, he graduated from high school in Otranto, Iowa. Andy enlisted in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945. When he was honorably discharged. In 1949, Andy married Marilyn Lucille Hanson. They had four children, Holly, Craig, Robert and Rebecca.

In addition to being a retired Hormel Foods employee with 43 years of service, Andy worked for Marilyn Anderson Real Estate. His favorite activities were fishing, bridge, hunting, reading, visiting Northern Minn., carpentry and animals. He was dearly loved and will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

Mahlon is survived by: wife, Marilyn L. Anderson; daughters: Holly (Hal) Henderson, Rochester, Minn., Rebecca (Kirk) Stroebel, Golden, Colo.; sons: Craig Anderson (Debbie Reimers), Lansing, Minn.; Robert (Kathy) Anderson, Austin, Minn.; grandsons: Ryan Henderson, Dallas, Texas; Heath Henderson, Nashville, Tenn.; niece: Glenda (Carl) Beltz, St. Ansgar, Iowa; brother-in-law: Glenn (Loriene) Brandt, Austin, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Irene Anderson, brothers Merlin Anderson and Myron Anderson and sister Elva Blakestead.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2005 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis R. Tamke officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Cemetery in Austin. Austin Post #91 American Legion is in charge of military rites. Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church on Thursday for one hour before the service. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
