AUSTIN, MINNESOTA -- The funeral for Florence Elise Hartson will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Brownsdale United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donald D. Budd officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Brownsdale.

Mrs. Hartson, 85, of Austin, formerly of Brownsdale, died Tuesday (Aug. 24, 1999) at Austin Medical Center.

Florence Elise Martin was born Oct. 20, 1913, in St. Ansgar, Iowa, and graduated from high school in Eau Claire, Wis. On June 13, 1942, she married Harold Hartson in Owatonna and they moved to Brownsdale shortly thereafter. From 1945 to 1968 they owned and operated Hartson Produce in Brownsdale and then moved to Austin. Her husband died in 1975. Mrs. Hartson was a nurse's aide at Burr Oak Manor in Austin for 20 years before her retirement in 1990. A member of the Brownsdale United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday school, and was active in the United Methodist Women and other church activities. She was a past matron of Unity Chapter 29 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (Mrs. Donald) Sparks of Waseca, Minn., and Shirley (Mrs. Donald) Peterson of Brookings, S.D.; a son, Richard of Tarpley, Texas; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin and an hour before the service Friday at the church. Unity Chapter 29 of the Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
