Funeral services for Darold C. Bless, 54, of Toeterville, who died February 28, 1983 in a motor vehicle accident south of Toeterville, were held March 3 at St. Peter Lutheran church, Toeterville, Iowa, with the Rev. Charles Bunk officiating.

Darold Christian Bless was born September 8, 1928 in Otranto, Iowa, the son of Clarence C. and Dora (Hartwig) Bless. He was baptized Sept. 30, 1928 in St. John's Lutheran church, Rock township, and was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran church in St. Ansgar on March 29, 1942.

He married Helen Thompson on June 14, 1952. They lived and farmed in the St. Ansgar area, moving to Toeterville in 1974. Mr. Bless was active in church and community affairs. He was well known in the area for his humor and his concern for older people and the disadvantaged. He was serving as treasurer of St. Peter Lutheran church at the time of his death.

Mr. Bless was preceded in death by his father Clarence, and by one sister, Frances (Bless) Morasch.

He is survived by his wife, Helen of Toeterville; by two daughters, Bonnie Bless of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Mrs. Michael (Kimberly) Taets of Clarion, Iowa; by two sons, Dennis and Douglas, students at Iowa State Univesity, Ames, Iowa; by two foster sons, Can and Binh Van Lam at home; by his mother, Mrs. Dora Bless of St. Ansgar; by one brother, Howard of St. Ansgar; by one sister, Mrs. Carl (Doreen) Finnesgaard of Kenyon, Minnesota; and by many nieces and nephews.

Burial was in St. Peter cemetery, Toeterville, with the Rev. Bunk in charge of committal services.
