RITES HELD FOR CARPENTER MAN - WAS JUNIOR IN UNIVERSITY OF IOWA MEDICAL COLLEGE AT IOWA CITY
Rites for Forest Nickerson, 28, who ended his life by hanging at Independence,Ia. last week, were conducted at the Evangelical church here Sunday. Rev. Sunderman, pastor of the Bolan church, preaching the funeral sermon. Interment was made in the Carpenter, Ia. cemetery.
Ed Forest Nickerson, son of Mr. & Mrs. Will Nickerson, was born July 21, 1907. In 1918, his parents moved to Plymouth where they lived 2 years, next moving to Worth County. Forest was graduated from Carpenter high school in 1925. He graduated from Cornell college in 1931 and in 1933 entered the University of Iowa Medical college at Iowa City. At the time of his death he was a junior in the college but was not enrolled during the current term.
He is survived by his parents, a sister, Ruth; two brothers, Harold and Donald; his fiance, Miss Ruth Switzer of Iowa City; and three grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. E.F. Poland, Marshalltown, and Mrs. Stella Burt of Marshalltown.
Pall bearers were Fenton and Frances Lynch, Orvie and Donald Severson, Victor Elverum and Myron Hansen, members of his high school graduating class. A quartet composed of Mr. & Mrs. L.N. Priem, Mrs. E.L. Dreher, and L. S. McGillvary sang 3 songs, accompanied by Mrs. Gustav Lee on the piano.
