LARS HALVERSON SERVICES HELD - EMIGRATED TO UNITED STATES FROM GOL HALLINGDAL, NORWAY IN 1873
Rites for Lars Halverson, 87, who died at the home of his son here last Friday night were conducted at the First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar, Iowa Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Olaf Langehough officiating.
The son of Halvor and Gurie Hanson, Lars Halvorson was born in Gol Hallingdal, Norway, on November 29, 1848. He was baptized January 7, 1849 and confirmed June 21, 1863 at Gol, Norway.
He emigrated to this country in 1873, arriving April 15th and settling at Spring Grove, Minnesota where he met and married Miss Inger Haugen in 1875.
In 1877 they moved to St. Ansgar, Iowa and made their permanent home here. To this union nine children were born. His wife and four children: Helmer, Oscar, Ida and Isabell all preceded him in death. He had been making his home with his son, Sever.
He is survived by five children: Mrs. Helga Thomas, Chicago, Illinois; Mrs. Gena Jaques, Fort Dodge, IA; Mrs. Luella Libersky, Lyle, MN; Sever and Charles of St. Ansgar. Seven grandchildren also survive him.
